Canned & Dry  Food

Picture

our cats and kittens eat Life's Abundance cat food

All of our cats eat Life's Abundance All Life Stage dry catfood. And when we can get it they love the Life's Abundance Pork and Duck wet food. We have been feeding Life's Abundance to our dogs and cats for the last 10 years. They have never had a recall in that whole time and that's really saying something. They also have always consistently liked it never turning it down. It is ONLY sold online due to big box stores letting product expire on the shelves. Each batch is shipped out fresh to your door. Order here at www.lifesabundance.com/pumaridge

our dry food mixture

From birth to 10 months old we mix the Life's Abundance with Purina Kitten Chow. From 10 months on we mix the Life's Abundance with Purina Proplan Hairball formula.  By using 2 different brands of dry food if there is ever a recall one you have the other to fall back on.

Canned Food Options

Fancy Feast Kitten (Chicken or Turkey) variety
*New Addition: Great Value Less Sodium canned Chicken Breast (for humans)
We had been feeding Wellness Core Shredded Chicken and while it is very healthy it was also very expensive. I contacted the Wellness Core company to find out what the sodium percentage was in their shredded Chicken and found that it was much higher than the (human) Walmart GV canned Less Sodium Chicken. The GV canned chicken is 12.5 oz and the Wellness Core is only 5.3oz. and more expensive.

*What I feed my adults by way of wet food changes constantly as cats are very finicky and their preferences change constantly so that will change what the kittens are eating by what they are stealing from their moms. In the "Go Home email" I go into more depth about what the kittens are eating specifically at the time they go home

hard water linked to bladder crystals

Filtered/Purified soft water is much better for cats than tap water.  Especially for males that may be prone to Bladder Crystals. A group of California Veterinarians consulting together on one of my cats living in California had seen an uptick in Male and Female cats with bladder crystals (with no known cause). There was no stress or any other reasons in the homes of these particular cats. Since these cases were on the far West Coast states what they concluded was that hard water was most likely the culprit. Our water here in Kingman is extremely bad so when we moved here in 2018 we put in a Triple duty water filtration and softener system.  Our 15 year old male as well as all our cats have never had issues with this living here. NEVER USE DISTILLED WATER. Distilled water has NO nutrients in it.

Cat food Ratings @ All About CAts

Be sure to sign up for cat food recalls! They now have according to this review site a Siberian cat feeding recommendation. IGNORE IT PLEASE. They have no information on the breed to warrant their food recommendations. By contrast they do have info on the Sphinx breed. I am only recommending this site for the food recall alerts ONLY.
