Grooming your kitten

Start brushing your kitten from day 1. If you get your kitten and play with it for 6 months then decide one day when he is matted up that now you need to start brushing it the cat will absolutely hate it and you.  That doesn't even take into consideration that when a cat licks/grooms itself it swallows hair. Cats can not spit so they are swallowing that hair. If they swallow enough of it it can cause a major intestinal blockage that can end up killing the cat. 2-3 times a week we give the kittens what we call "The Business". This entails washing the kittens face and cleaning their ears and brushing them thoroughly.  *Important Tip- Kittens LOVE to lay and play in their litter boxes so they get litter box dirt in their ears. When you go to the vet they can't tell if it is dirt or ear mites with out sending a sample out to a lab. CA-CHING Its best to clean the ears before you go to the vet so the vet has no reason to try to sell you an expensive bottle of ear mite medicine. Please enjoy our grooming video.

How to keep your kitten from biting you

This is an excellent video! It addresses everything you need to know EXCEPT one important reason your KITTEN could be biting. Hunger! If your kitten is going through a growth spurt and you are trying to measure out exact quantities because you don't want an obese cat you could be the problem. I always say; As A KITTEN it is better to have a chunky monkey than a skinny mini that bites. Your kitten may not be getting enough meat in their diet and is hungry. Remember your little Lion is a carnivore.

Bringing the New Cat Home

Introducing your new kitten to other pets

Letting the kitten stay in the bathroom and the established pet sniff them under the door is safe. Eventually when they are playing under the door it is time to let them meet.  I recommend having the new kitten bond with you first; before the other pets. *Credit Daisley Siberians

Bath Time

You'll want to start this routine from a young age so that cat is not traumatized when you all of a sudden decide after 5 years of age that today is the day the cat gets a bath. **Left side of sink for washing and right side of sink for rinsing.**

How to Keep the Cat from Scratching the Furniture

**HINT If you want the cat to like baths DO NOT spray them with a water bottle. Keep a Scratching post or Tree in several rooms. Cats like the Horizontal surfaces as well as the Vertical surfaces. Cheap cardboard scratchers work nicely as well.

How to get your cat into the carrier

I didn't think this was a common question until I had a few people in a row ask in short succession.  Here are 2 videos showing different techniques for getting your cat into it's carrier.  1st video is a hard case. 2nd video soft sided.
